We had J's birthday party last weekend, and we couldn't have gotten better weather. There were 16 boys invited, and they spent 2 hours running around the yard, playing in the tree house, sand box and swing set. We had a pinata, which three kids got a whack at, and then it decapitated itself, so I climbed up to the tree house and threw all the treats out to the boys. A good time was had by all, and everyone went home with a bucket filled with old-fashioned goodies; paddleballs, metal jacks, pick up sticks, Silly Putty, Cracker Jacks and spinning tops. It was intersting that some of the kids didn't know what some of the things were. It was fun to watch parents demonstrate how to use Silly Putty. I always say simple things are the best. I also say "More is more", but that tends to be my justification for decorating 8 full size Christmas trees!

Sounds like the perfect birthday party!! I love all the things you put in the pinata. I might have to borrow that idea from you for my son's next birthday party.
