Kindergarten Graduate

My baby graduated from Kindergarten.
S with Mr.s Ott, the best teacher in the world!
(S cried when I said he is now a 1st grader. He said he would miss Mrs. Ott. I told him he would still see her, he just said, with chin quivering, "It won't be the same.")

Treats for everyone!

Play Date: Junk Art

With one years worth of saved "good" junk, I let the kids have at it! All the kids brought was their own roll of masking tape and great imaginations.

K was making a painted glittery stick.
E made wet felt marbles
They all ate alot of lunch. Being creative makes you hungry!
Next time we are doing a Jackson Pollock inspired art day.

John Wooden 1910-2010

"If you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything.
I'm positive that a doer makes mistakes."

This remarkable man, UCLA Coach John Wooden, died Friday night at age 99.
I have given his books as graduation gifts because I find him so wise.
Check out his website here for inspiration.

This beautiful cutting board was given to me by S's teacher, as a thank you for my help this year. It was completely unnecessary, I gladly helped and felt lucky to be able to. Mrs. O saw me lusting after the donated board at the school auction, and knew I would like to have one of my own. She asked the parent who made it to make me one. Liz did a fabulous job, and I have it on my counter, where it is lovingly stroked and admired. I don't think I will ever be able to really cut on it. It's just too beautiful. Thank you Mrs. O and Liz!!! I will pass it down to S some day. If you feel the desire to have one of these boards, check out her company, Benson Wood Products.
