Madison Farmers Market

Tulips in front of Capitol in Madison. The Farmers Market is every Saturday, around the beautiful Capitol, and is something that can't be missed. There is a waiting list to be a seller, and the bounty is endless.
We have done extensive research, and have concluded that Farmer John has the best cheese curds. We proved the point by eating two bags in two days.

J is my market buddy. He is finding the Queen Bee, and then we enjoyed some honey.

This is my favorite flower seller. The roses smell amazing.

We also researched who makes the best beef sticks and jerky. D & G won hands down.

Farmers Market starts Saturday!

I can't wait to start the new season at the Dane County Farmers Market. The setting is perfect, the Capital Square. I get there early, some vendors are still setting up. I start walking, stopping at Stella's Bakery, for some still warm spicy cheese bread. I always have to pick out the hunk of cheese that has oozed out, and eat it right away. My family has no idea that even exists. Next a stop at my favorite flower spot, for some tiny sterling roses. They are a beautiful shade of lavender and smell heavenly. When I get home I will put them into an antique wine glass, and set it on my nightstand. I continue the walk, smelling my roses, looking out for Farmer John's cheese, because his curd is the best, still warm, with whey dripping from it, and of course, squecky. I'll continue thinking about what I can cook, with all the bounty at my fingertips. By the time I'm done, my Lands' End tote will be full. And I will have a wonderful ride home, with cinnamon rolls for the family and big cooking plans for the weekend. If you are ever in the area, don't miss the experience. What I Just Finished Reading...

I just finished reading Made from Scratch by Jenna Woginrich. It is about her experience homesteading. Chickens, rabbits, dogs, bees. She is one motivated lady! She even fiddles. I can walk to a farmers market from my house, and travel 20 minutes to the best one, the Dane County Farmers Market, which is held around the Capital Square every Saturday from May- October. And that is about as homestead-y as I will probably get. Especially since I live in a town. I have flower gardens, grow my own herbs, and tomatoes. I have to admit having my own bee hive does sound interesting. Fresh honey vs potential bee stings. Hmmm? Yep, the farmers market bee guy works for me.
